About the Programme
This 6-week programme supports unemployed adults in Newcastle to improve their mental wellbeing, build confidence, and explore pathways to volunteering, training or employment. Delivered in trusted community spaces, it combines group sessions, active travel, and one-to-one support.
- Weekly group sessions including cycling, walking and peer discussion
- Coaching and Mentoring
- 1:1 guidance on CV writing, confidence and personal goals
- Careers signposting
- Volunteering and training opportunities
- Digital Skills Training
- Supportive facilitators with lived experience
- Access to bikes and helmets
- Support with Active Travel, Journey Planning and safe road use
What we offer
Adults aged 18+ who are currently unemployed and want to improve their wellbeing, confidence or explore next steps in life. No referral needed – just get in touch.
Where and when do we meet?
Sessions take place at Walker, Byker, Fenham and Fawdon. We are expanding into other parts of Newcastle. We work with the community for the community. All venues are well connected by public transport and known locally as a trusted community hub.

Referrals from Professionals
GPs, social prescribing link workers or community groups may refer clients into the Bike and Banter Programme:
– Clients can be referred through the professional referral route
– We respond within 48 hours to coordinate their first session
– Fill in the Referral Form HERE
